Today I drove my own car for the very first time. Lots of sweating (ok, it was hot, but still!) but I managed, and could actually relax near the end. Silly car just didn't listen to me before... ;) Still have trouble parking, turning etc. but you know :P I am a woman after all ;) ( varroom ) |

What the hell? The government launched a media campaign, "Think Ahead", incl an ad to talk people into buying a first-aid-in-case-of-catastrophes-kit... Because even though we're not doing too bad, catastrophes can happen, and you wouldn't want to be without a radio (on batteries!) tuned into the 'emergency station', a whistle and a light-coloured rain poncho...
You would almost suspect they are trying to tell us something... :p Either that or major jinxing!!**

So I arrived here in St Albans on Monday, yaaay. My mom came with me (a luggage thing, grmbl! too much luggage!), and I brought her back to the airport today. So now I am here chilling out while my roomie is at work. Had to make some poo calls (formalities) but am settling in quite nicely! Although I think that's because I don't have to work yet ;)
Saw Rilo Kiley here Monday evening, that was pretty amazing! The venue was small and cosy, the sound was good & the view was excellent 'cause we stood at the front of the balcony. I got the new CD at their gig as well, it's very different from their older stuff but cool, either way -- they played lots of it live and it rocked! So... Just a little rant I need to get off my chest despite all the good stuff that's going on for me at the moment...
I read on the boards that Tanya's playing a show with her (half) sister Kristin Hersh in Cambridge. Fans are raving about the last time they did an event together, it's supposed to be pretty awesome... esp since Tanya hardly ever plays lately, and a shared bill is very rare for these two ladies. PLUS of course it'd be amazing to see Boston and the area there!
Well anyway, that idea was shot to hell when I saw the flight prices to Boston. Now if it were holidays and I actually had money... but a weekend, for a show, that's just not doable :P

So I just finished the latest in my book-reading phase (a.k.a. holidays).

I had it lying around for a while after I read the introduction, deciding it was too thick and that I'd rather read some shorter stories instead ;) Now I've researched a bit, wanted to know what people thought of the story etc cause some things are still a bit obscure and it seems I'm all behind on its popularity. That might've made me start sooner lol - it's funny how that always happens *after* I read a book!
Anyway -- it was complicated what with all the references and subclauses etc but good, needless to say I suppose!
I've also finished A Spot of Bother and The Curious Incident... by Mark Haddon, the Five Ppl You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom and Candide (of het optimisme) by Voltaire which was random but fun!
I would recommend all those, cause I enjoyed all of them :) |

YAAAAY I GOT ACCEPTED!!!
After weeks of waiting for the test results, more weeks of waiting for an interview, and another 3 weeks of waiting for THOSE results... I can finally say I got my placement position! This is the position I really wanted, in the middle of London, in a big subtitling/translation company :D
This was a good opportunity to bring into practice what I'd seen on the Secret, so I've been visualizing this for weeks, imagining as though I'd had it and how I'd feel, and it worked! Even though my (usually) long patience was under heavy heavy pressure (lol), it paid off! :) :) :)
I can get started on the paperwork now. I'm planning to move mid-August! So much to do :D All awesome :) |
